Heirloom Carrot Seeds

Heirloom Carrot Varieties

All varieties are 65+/- days from germination.

Growing Tip: Make sure your soil is very loose to avoid forked roots. A good sandy mix will always produce a better-looking carrot.

Scarlet Nantes- 1,000+ seeds

This heirloom variety was originally grown in the Loire Valley of western France and still bears the name of the city of Nantes. These carrots grow to 7” in length and are known for there tenderness and high moisture content (a good juicer!). I have found them to be far superior to the store-bought Imperator variety.

Atomic Red- 200+ seeds

This beautiful carrot grows 7-11” long and is ready for harvest in about 75 days. Very high in the anti-oxidant lycopene, which tends to be absorbed by the body at a much higher rate when the carrot is cooked.

Cosmic Purple- 200+ seeds

This tasty purple carrot grows 7-11” long and is ready for harvest in about 70 days. Has a purple skin with orange interior. Also very high in the anti-oxidant lycopene.

Blanche a Collet- 100+ seeds

This is an ancient heirloom carrot variety first noted in 19th century French texts (also known as the "White Belgian"). It has a sweet taste, both raw and cooked, and grows to over 18" in length. Best when harvested at under 12". Develops distinctive green shoulders as the roots develop.

Jaune du Doubs- French Heirloom- 200+ seeds

This yellow heirloom is one of the oldest carrot varieties available anywhere in the world. Its history dates back to the 14th century french cooking guides and was certainly a European staple for at least 2,000 years. Quite rare.

St. Valery- Rare- 300+ seeds

This rare heirloom variety was originally grown in France. These carrots grow to 12 in length and have a beautiful red-orange color. St. Valery is known for its tenderness and sweet taste.

Touchan- French Heirloom Variety- 200+ seeds

This is an old French heirloom carrot known for the fact that it is nearly coreless. Grows into beautiful 5-10" cylindrical, sweet, carrots. Stores very well. Plant a second crop in July and August for fall harvest and winter storage.

Organic Rothild- 200+ seeds

This is another ancient European variety known for its heavy yields and high carotene level. In my opinion it is the best juice carrot available. Great color, stores well, and grows well in clay soils.
